Approval of minutes of previous meetings: Motion to approve minutes of March 26, 2019 moved by Gavin McLeod, seconded by Mary Wilson, approved.

Stewardson Way Overpass Completion (Gavin McLeod): The overpass was completed at the end of August. An unofficial opening ceremony was created and held on August 24th which included walking across the overpass. A cyclist, who worked at Kruger, stopped and informed us that there was a number of Kruger employees who were cyclists and would use the overpass. At this time there does not appear to be and official opening ceremony planned.

City of New Westminster 5 year policing plan (Gavin McLeod): The New Westminster police engaged the pubic in its 5 year plan using an online survey and events at the auditorium of the New West library beginning on September 16th.

Residents’ Association Forum of September 11, 2019(Elmer Rudolph): RA boundary changes were discussed. Allocation of city owned space for meetings was discussed.

Social Media App “Nextdoor” Introduced to the West End (Gavin McLeod): A new social media app was introduced to the west end by Melody Li, there is also a website. It is multifunctional providing communication and opportunity for buying and selling.

City of New Westminster planning changes to Advisory Committees (Elmer Rudolph): The city has been discussing changes to the Advisory Committees, past suggestions were to pay participants and also to screen based on ethnicity to achieve diversity. Residents associations were not consulted for input on these changes.

W.E.R.A. left out of city discussions about 12th street redevelopment (Elmer Rudolph): The city has been discussing redevelopment of the top end of 12th street; WERA was not consulted or advised before or during this process.

Hospital parking revenues (Elmer Rudolph): Charging for parking at hospitals is a major annoyance for most people, the province has collected $36.388 million province wide shared by parking company and the province.

Parking bylaws for Laneway house developments (Elmer Rudolph): A total of two parking spaces are required. Tandem parking spaces are not permitted. Only one garage space is permitted inside the laneway house or carriage house. Up to one parking space can be a carport.

Additional Agenda Items NTAC meeting of  September 10, 2019 (Frank Norman): Nothing specific to the west end. Speed hump policy was discussed; school zone review including pick up and drop off. Pedestrian crossing improvement was discussed.
