General Meeting: September 22, 2009; commenced 7:05 p.m.

Moved and seconded that the Minutes of June 23, 2009 meeting be accepted.
Appointment of Representative to City Advisory Committee: W.E.R.A. has been asked to submit two nominations for the traffic advisory committee. Andrea Francis was nominated and accepted the nomination, no other nominees.
Proposal for Community Garden in West End: Andrew Murray reported on a proposal to establish a community garden in the west end of New Westminster; proposed possible locations are the south slope of Grimston Park and the Hydro right of way at Edinburgh. Andrew spoke on the importance of community gardens and locally produced food.
Vote on Amended Constitution for W.E.R.A.: All changes to the constitution have been voted on, a second vote was not considered to be necessary, the amended constitution will be placed on the West End Blog site..
School Board Charges for W.E.R.A. meetings: Elmer reported on proposed charges for the meeting room beginning with the new contract, charges may be waived due to W.E.R.A.’s not for profit status.
Additional Items: Report that a Pedestrian sign is obscured, located on 6th Ave at the foot of 18th. Noisy air brakes have been reported on trucks using the Queensborough Bridge.
6. Fraser River Gala Dinner: The Fraser River Discovery Centre is hosting a gala dinner, Oct. 29, which will mark the centre’s 20th anniversary. The gala will be held at the newly-renovated discovery centre. Tickets are $165 each or $1500 for a table of 10. Tickets can be purchased by phone 604-521-8401 or by email info at fraserriverdiscovery.org.
